Around here it’s cold & windy. Sourdough rye bread and pizza dough are slowing working away in the kitchen. Candles are lit. And I’m drinking my new “signature” winter afternoon cuppa (turmeric latte). This winter, I am leaning towards doing a little more than I think I want to do. This has been helping me to stay lively and more positive than I have during previous winters.

The past few weeks, I’ve been joyfully settling into this time of year, this dreaming, scheming and reflecting it brings. Two things I’m wanting to focus more on this year are consistency in my creative projects and in my fitness.
Creative projects have fallen off a bit for me in the past few years, and as I’ve finished one thing the gap before the next project has become longer. A few weeks ago, I jumped into a knitting project (Lulu Slipover by Petite Knit) that has me both challenged and nourished. It made me realized that having the next project(s) lined up will help me keep this consistent flow throughout the year, so I’ve chosen 6 projects that I’m commited to completing this year. I’m sure along the way mending projects will also pop up like this linen duvet cover mend I did last fall that I adore.

For Christmas I received a beautiful plant for our new yoga/streching/fitness room. This is the room we used to rent out and since our roommate moved out it has been wonderful to have a blank room dedicated to working out, stretching, and Peter’s puzzling! Having this space has helped me lean into my desire to have a more consistent fitness practice which I am cultivating this year as well.
Before I leave here are a few things from around here that I’ve been enjoying:

Candles - using them everywhere
People who include typed up family updates in their holiday cards, there are only a few of you left in the world! It is just the best.
